Lone Star Boxer Rescue is the Houston Chapter of Austin Boxer Rescue, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the health and well-being of the boxer breed. LSBR/ABR is run and managed 100% by volunteers since 1999. Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home boxers that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, and strays. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to allow us to save more dogs in need throughout the state of Texas.

I am a big, handsome boy with a gentle spirit. My friend Jill and I were rescued together. We were in lots of danger until the shelter took us in. I am about three years old and get along with other dogs. I am heartworm negative, and my rescuers were quite happy to hear that! Apparently, heartworms are a real problem in the South, especially with all the mosquitoes. Just as getting a good night's sleep, eating healthy and exercising are important for good health, so is heartworm prevention. It's a must! OK, off my soap box and on to confession: There are some rumors going around that I like to climb or jump over fences. It's true that I did try to climb out of the kennel at the shelter before coming to LSBR. But I was really scared. I'm not sure that I would try this again if I knew I was in a safe home, but it might be best that I go to a home with a tall wood fence.
