Mana (now Lola)
Mana (now Lola)

We changed her name to Lola and yes, she a most definitely a huge part of the family. Her personality is fantastic. She is the most loving dog I have ever had. I can see how all of you would becoame attached to her. Thanks for taking care of her, and allowing us to raise her and give her a life.

Miles
Miles

Hi Debbie, I hope that you are doing well and had a good holiday season. It's been a while since I sent you an update about Miles and how he's doing, so I wanted to drop you a line. Miles has settled in very well and really is as close of a perfect fit with us as they come :) A while back we got a dog door which he mastered in a couple days and he uses that when we are gone during the day. We don't crate him, but he keeps to the first floor during until we get home. Miles now has more beds around the house than we do! He has a nice dog bed on each floor (3) and then an additional comfy mat in the cabin/dog house that we put outside for him. Some of his favorite things to do include chewing his bone, laying in the sun on our balcony while Luis and I are out there reading, greeting the other dogs in our neighborhood on our walks and of course being petted. He doesn't bark at all, but when he's excited he will give us a bit of the boxer howl, which is hilarious. These days we see lots of tail wagging and he is excited to see the dogs he knows around the neighborhood which is great. He is definately more interested in human affection than other dogs though, so I think he enjoys having Luis and me to himself! Miles doesn't leave my side, he follows me pretty much everywhere, so as you mentioned I've grown accustomed to having a boxer shadow me around the house :) He has a fan club whereever he goes because he is so calm and the long tongue amazes everyone. He's been really great and we've hardly ever had any problems since that first week when he was just scared and didn't know what was going on. I hope things are going well for you. Thank you for letting us give Miles a good home. He brings a lot of happiness to our household and he really is a perfect dog. Happy Valentine's Day. Leah

Mya
Mya

Just wanted to thank you again for bringing Mya into mine and Spencers life. It has only been 2 months & 10 days since we brought her home. She is starting to adjust but is still a work in progress. She has started to put on some weight and not look so boney. The papers said that she weighted 46 lbs but there was not way. I just took her to the vet 2 wks ago for a check up and wanted to let you know that she got a clean bill of health on her heartworm check and now weights 44 lbs. Her and Spencer get along great until there is food involved which she still has a problem with & I have to feed her outside away from him or she will attack him. He is great with her and lets her have all the toys & sleep where she wants to just to keep her happy. They had a great Christmas and it makes me so happy to see her happy & not being so scared all the time. She warms up to people after a while and everyone she loves her.

I am attaching their picture with Santa & the day after Christmas when they both were just wore out after opening all those gifts Santa brought.

Thank you again and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas & getting ready to have a Happy New Year. Brenda, Spencer & Mya

MAYA
MAYA

Just wanted to let you know that we have had a WONDERFUL week with Mya! She has been a perfect lady her first week here! We couldn't be more pleased! :) I think we are going to be calling her Missy. My husband Marshall just likes that name for her, and she seems to understand that we are talking to her when we use it. Sometimes I slip and call her Mya, and she knows that name, too! :) She's very smart! :) Missy and Rudyard are inseparable. They play and play and play until I MAKE them come inside and rest! :) At mealtimes Rudyard INSISTS on eating right next to Missy. I was trying to feed them in separate places, but he refuses to eat unless he is right beside her. So I just stand there while they eat to be sure each one gets his/her own serving. (Missy has been known to try to help herself to Rudyard's food, too.) :) Missy is indeed a very loving, huggable, snugglable little person. I adore her sweet side as much as her playful side. And she LOVES Marshall. When I come home from work, she is obviously happy to see me. But when MARSHALL comes home a little later, her tail wags sooooo hard that her ENTIRE rear end is wagging. She is wagging so hard that she can hardly scamper over to him. Her front feet want to go forward, but her hind feet are going side to side. It is precious to watch! :) Again, THANK YOU for blessing our home with Missy/Mya! :) Each time I rub and pet her, I think of how sick she was when you took her in. THANK YOU for saving her life and for restoring her body and her spirit!! She is a BLESSING to our home, and I will ALWAYS be grateful to you!!! Not only did you invest great time, care, and love into her liife, but you also demonstrated tremendous UNSELFISHNESS when you allowed her to come live with us!!! I KNOW it was hard to give her up!!! Thank you for entrusting her to us. Sincerely, Jean Ann Priest

MALAKAI
MALAKAI

We got Roxy in April 08 as a foster placement. This sweet girl immediately stole our heart (and our beds). She had a really bad case of mange but now is a beautiful girl. As you can see, Roxy does not care WHO she sleeps with as long as she is laying with *someone. :) We have been fostering children for 13 years and I think Roxy is very intuitive that these children coming into our home need unconditional love, just as she does. Because Roxy has such a gentle disposition, We are going to have her trained as a therapy dog. It is a role she would excel at. Being a therapy dog would also help promote adoption of dogs in rescue. Adopting Roxy may have saved her life but she is repaying us by helping the children who come through our door. What a great partnership we have!
